a man will be hanged in singapore

what do you think? how is the news reporting it? is it right we spend so much time debating a casino and its effects on US and so little when it comes to the rights of foreign nationals? rights of drug dealers, oxymoron, but do we have no regard for circumstances, especially when the drug lords are sipping tequila somewhere and laughing at us? when they're OUR laws meant to protect US? i'm not trying to save his life but do you think it will continue to serve us in the future? and when serve i mean fulfilling our right conscience and not the solution of greatest expedience?

does anyone know the law (hint lawyer?). what are the justifications of punishment? does the punishment really fill a retributive (come on) or a utilitarian function? am i just blowing a lot of hot air. should we even care? why do i even bother? will this mark my descent into cretinism as i give up?

-unmitigated despair-

Have to agree with Jesse tho.....issues like this should but seldom engage singaporeans to examine their own laws.
It's a fucking shame that its mainly white pple campaigning to save yellow pple from the injustices inflicted by yellow pple. chanchan

i also feel a certain injustice that usually the criminal masterminds prop their feet up somewhere while pawns they have blackmailed or tempted with greed are sent to their doom
